I went back to the original post and read my question comment. I’ve since learned something about colour from my son who has a screen printing job. Apparently secondary colours such as purple, orange and green are particularly hard to match if a print or colour job is not completed in full the first time around. They often print advertising banners, t-shirts etc and when doing green they have to mix an enormous amount of ink and do the entire batch in one go. If they run out of colour and mix more the colour doesn’t match even if the exact formula is followed. Naturally, having to mix such large amounts is going to cost the company more, so the cost is going to be passed on to the customer. this is why a specialised paint like that orange with the highlights is $3000 extra per car.
