I received a new scam email today – I’m posting it here because when I search for LCN Company and LCN Team, the search results do not mention anything about scams. Hopefully this post will bullet to the front page for those particular terms and help people contacted by this company to know this is a scam.

Administrative Assistant is available today for full and partial position.

LCN Company is a worldwide goods retailer that is why your general tasks will be connected with sales customer support for operations held in Australia: keep the data of all the deals and orders payment; cope with customers in USA, Eastern Europe and Asia; give all the necessary service and support to our selling department.

You will be paid up to 3800 AUD per month plus bonuses for the part-time position and for full-time position – 5800 AUD per month plus addition.
We have a trial period, during this period you will be trained and guided. This period is also paid.

Minimum Requirements are easy. You just need to have computer with access to the Internet, also Excel skills (the software must be pre-installed), interpersonal and communication skills.

They are using many different names with @outlook.com email addresses – anyone can sign up for free email at outlook.com – Also they seem to have a couple of urls now – lcnwork.com and email addresses used for further emails are using that domain name – lcn-premium.com, lcnjob.com, lcnrecruit.com and now lcn-hr.com are also being used by these same scammers.

Update 21/08/15 –

They are now using gmx.com email addresses. This is another place anyone can sign up for free email addresses.

They are now using the name RNT as well as LCN.

Mega Important Note!!

If you got this email from a different name and email address, please leave a comment asap, you can use a fake name and email address to post the comment if you like. I’ll regularly add in other names and emails used in to the post. It will help other people who are searching for the names. Thanks everyone who leaves a comment, it WILL stop people from getting scammed. :)

Second Mega Important Note –

DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT if you replied and they send you a second email with an attachment! If you did open an attachment, you must run a virus scanner and malware scanner ASAP. There are many different virus scanning programs out there, you probably have one you like to use, just make sure it is the LATEST version!!! and that it is up to date.

If you do not have a favourite, you could try AVG which has a free version.

Update – I’ve had two different people look at the files (safely because that is hugely important!) and it looks like they do not contain any nasties. Even so, you want to run antivirus and malware scanners, just to be on the safe side.

Keep Yourself Safe –

It is hugely important in future to remember – *never* open an attachment from someone you do not personally know. For me that means people I have actually met in the flesh.

Also, keeping internet browsers and phone apps up to date, using an anti-virus program, and keeping your anti-virus program up to date is important as well.

Using things like SMS verification for internet banking can be a good thing, too. ;)

I gave them my bank account details?

If you gave them the account name, BSB and account number, they can easily print fake cheques with that information. You definitely need to speak to your bank about this ASAP.

In this particular instance, you may find they deposit a sum into your account – or they may send your account a payment from a stolen credit card. If that happens, DO NOT touch that money, because eventually the bank will reverse that payment. It may take some time – in some cases 6 months to a year – but it *will* happen eventually and you will have to repay that amount of money to the bank.

If it were my bank details, I would close that account as a matter of great urgency. Speak to your bank as soon as you can, and they will likely advise you to do that.

I would advise anyone caught out by this scam to make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. The scam victim may be able to sort out a deal with the bank where the bank pays some – or all – of the losses.

Don’t Tell Them!

It seems these scammers are using a template from LMP Company and they have switched names because the very first result for LMP Company now leads to scamwarners.

So – please – do not tell scammers that their company name is listed here or anywhere else on the web as a scam – it will take them mere seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be easily searchable for any future victims to find.

All you have to say is that you know this is a scam – you do not have to tell them how you know.

Wait! I think I’m being scammed!

Did you receive this email and reply to it? This is a fake job scam. There is no job. Most likely, you will be sent a fraudulent check, and they will want you to send them money because your bank will clear the check at first.

Check? – Cheque? – Bank Draft?

These are all names for the same thing – the name used depends on which country you live in. I use the term check here on the blog because check is the most commonly used spelling in the USA, and people in the USA are the most targeted for these job scams.

If you have banked a check from them –

but you still have the money and have not sent it anywhere – PUT THAT MONEY BACK IN YOUR BANK RIGHT NOW. Do not send any money via Western Union or Moneygram.

If you have banked a check from them –

And you have sent the money via Western Union or Moneygram, then you may wish to seek legal advice. I strongly suggest that you do so as a matter of urgency, because..

In the USA, scam victims can be arrested for banking a fraudulent check.

See this article – Check from a scammer bounces victim into jail – Even the FTC in the US gives out incorrect information re check scams – they say “The bottom line is that until the bank confirms that the funds from the check have been deposited into your account, you are responsible for any funds you withdraw against that check.”

This is UNTRUE –

even if the bank confirms the funds have been deposited, the bank can undo the transaction at any time when they discover the check was stolen or fraudulent – even up to a year after they “cleared” it. But you did not know this, and nobody ever tells anyone this.

This is not your fault – it is the fault of the banks, who hide this fact deep within the terms and conditions booklet that you receive when you open an account – these terms and conditions you have agreed to abide by when you opened your account.

If you are not willing to seek legal advice, the only advice I can personally provide to you is to print out all the emails you received and the emails you sent, print out that page from the Federal Trade Commission and keep it somewhere safe for if/when the police eventually turn up on your doorstep.

You will have to pay this money back to the bank eventually. The sooner you make arrangements to do this, the better.

  2. Hi! I’m in Australia and I received an email from Amy Lane too. I can see she has been added to the list of senders. I replied just to see what kind of response I’ll get and I received a call from a lady claiming to be Amy Lane with a bery heavy accent. Not an accent I have heard before. Ive been sent emails like this over the years…dont know where they get my email address from but its annoying. Anyway, emailed her back and told her I wasnt interested in their money… Thanks for this post. Its amazing how many people dont do a simple google search on the company name. Couldnt find anything on them. Then I googled ‘LCN Company Scam’ and taadaa!!! Found this! Thanks again

    • Hey Angela – you are the second person who has mentioned receiving a call. Did you have caller ID and if so where did it say they were calling from?

      Re how they got your email address – Any website you visit has a privacy policy. Some of them clearly state in that policy that they will (or may choose to) sell your email address and other details to a third party.

      I recommend always checking that policy before giving any details, and having a separate email address which you use for the sites which state they will sell your address on.

      If you set up a free gmail account as the separate email address, you can forward those emails to your “normal” account, but if that account gets a lot of spams and scams, you can just go in and turn off the forwarding, start up a new email address, and use that new one for the sites which will sell addresses.

      • Hi, same for me. “Amy Lane” called me this morning and I told her that I had sent an email with some questions. She asked me what questions, and I asked a few regarding payments and asked for a official website link to be sent…which hasn’t happened of course. I unfortunately did open the attachment so am running anti virus as we speak. When she called it came up with no caller id. Thanks for the heads up, thought it all sounded a bit too good to be true.

    I am from Australia also received an email few days ago from Amy Lane, unfortunately open the attached document, filled it up, scanned and emailed it back last night, this morning i received a call from a lady, she has an indian accent, i requested for her to call me back as I was busy but she said she just wanted to send an agreement form and for me to sign and to email to her back again, i searched LCN legit? and luckily for me I saw this post. Thank you.

      You might find they send you a fake cheque in the mail. If they do, could you take a photo of it and send it to me, and I will try to warn the account holders.

      The only thing a scammer needs to make fake cheques is the name of the account holder, BSB and account number, and a printer. :(

    • Alex, all you need to do is not respond any further. If they send you emails, ignore them. Do not reply. :)

      If you get a phone call simply tell the woman that you know this is a scam and hang up. Please don’t tell them how you know, though! ;)

      They will not bother you again, because they want to spend time on the people who don’t know it is a scam.

      You may receive a fake cheque in the mail, if you gave them your mailing address. My advice – laminate it and show it to your friends and family. You can send me a photo of it, if you want me to try and warn the account holders that their banking info has been compromised.

    • This would not have been a woman emailing people, Ell Jo. They may have a woman working for them making phone calls, but 99% of the Nigerian Scammers behind these scams are men. :)

  14. So I got an email from a Danielle Taylor at: daniellemarietaylor@hotmail.com and i sent off my resume with my phone numbers and house address. I then received an email from Amy Lane at:amy.lane@lcnjob.com about the admin assistant job. I then researched and found this. Not sure if it’s helpful but they sent me a fax number with the email:+1-832-218-1632. Will they be able to do any thing with the info they have?

    • Jacob – as long as you did not provide them with your bank account BSB and account number, you should be fine. It is important to note that a fake cheque scammer needs only 4 things to make a fake cheque – the name of the account holder, the BSB and account number, plus any standard printer.

      Sadly these people are in Nigeria and there is nothing that can be done there – the police are very corrupt in that country. You’ve done the best thing you can do by posting the details here, which will hopefully mean other people find this post. ;)

  17. I received the same e-mail two days ago by Amy Lane. Unfortunately I filled the application and send it back to them with all my details. They send me agreement to sign and asked my bank details. I read the whole agreement and decided to google them to read more about them, as I googled I found this information here. I regret sending them an application with all my job history and personal information. I have learnt a big lesson that never ever to send my info without searching online. I hope this post and comments help people who are being scammed by this fake company.

    • Haylz – these scammers are working 24/7 to scam people. That is their job, and they are excellent at it. It is only thanks to all the people who have replied here with the details from their emails that so many people have found this post and found out this was a scam. :)

    • Gmail would be one of the only ones that does send it to spam automatically, I think, though Yahoo might. Most of the others do not have very effective spam traps. I’ll add that name to the post shortly, thanks Jason! :)

Zany Shah : I have got the same email couple of days back from Amy Lane and in the morning i also got the call from them but the number was not mentioned caller id was blocked and when i tried to send them the e mail its having a problem and the mail is not being sent..But my question is why they are doing all this..what do they get for it?Thanks for this post buddy

    • Zainy – they will send fake cheques to all the people who have signed up for this job. The people will bank the cheques. The people will be asked to send a “small portion” of the money back to them via Western Union. Weeks or months later, the bank will discover the cheque is stolen or fraudulent, and then they will “undo” the transaction. It is extremely important to note –

      Cheques can bounce up to a YEAR after they have been banked, if they are found to be stolen or fraudulent – even if the bank tells you it has “cleared”.

      So they will make considerable money out of this. That is what they will get.

    • Jen – did you give them your bank details?

      If yes, you will want to speak to your bank and let them know. They may advise you to close that account, or you may decide to close it to be on the safe side. :)

      • If you gave them the account name, BSB and account number, they can easily print fake cheques with that information. You definitely need to speak to your bank about this ASAP.

        If it were my bank details, I would close that account.

  23. Hi! Almost sent them my resume. Good thing I checked their credibility and found this. Thank you for the information! I am an International student here in Australia and thought that there’s something “fishy” with their offer.

    Anyway, received their e-mail 2 days ago (they’re using Amy Lane) and decided to just ignore it.

    However, I received an email today from a “Stephen E. Barlow” offering me an Operations Assistant post. I have read the job description and reason why they need an operations assistant, and there it was, a VERY SIMILAR message composition!
    If you still have the file sent by LCN you will notice on the 7th slide of the PDF file (Company Profile/Presentation of LCN), that it is very similar to this:

    WHY DO WE NEED OPERATIONS ASSISTANT?
    1. Reduces % of taxes (avoiding double taxation)

    2. Reduces expenses for office maintenance (as Operations Assistant is an official company’s representative, so the construction and maintenance of office is not required)—on Amy Lane’s email, instead of using operations assistant, they are using Admin Assistant. This is where I initially noticed their similarities.

    3. Number of clients is increased ( as many customers can’t make an international money transfer )

    4. Our service is increased ( as the international transfer needs about 5 days to reach our official local office and then a couple of days to reach the performers branch. Consequently, it slows down our work significantly. It’d be much faster if Operations Assistant receives the money and directs them to the appropriate department / branch);

    5. Improves quality of reporting (each Operations Assistant is responsible for one’s region. That system allows us to quickly and accurately make up all the reports and avoid their mess up )

    Now I don’t know if this one’s legit, but I don’t remember applying for such position. The application form they sent me is very different from the one forwarded by “Amy Lane.”‘

    the company name they used in their new email was Qualitiees & LLC.

  30. I received the same job offer and unfortunately signed the agreement. I confirmed to start the transfer tomorrow. Having seen this thread, I don’t want to do it anymore. Has anyone here tried to do the job? What happened?

    • M – this is not a real job. It is a scam. You MUST NOT do what they have asked you to do. If you have banked a cheque for these people, you MUST tell your bank that the cheque is stolen or fraudulent ASAP and you must leave the money in there because the cheque will eventually be reversed and you will be out that amount of money.

      • They told me that they would transfer money into my bank account, that I keep 5% and withdraw the rest of what they transferred in cash, then send the cash through Western Union.

      • M – DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY.

        Can you confirm to me now that you will not send any money, no matter what they say to you?

        You also need to contact your bank and let them know that you have given your bank account information to scammers. I suggest you close that account.

    • MB – Thanks – One should never open things sent via email unless you have met the person face to face and even then you have to be extremely careful. I had one friend last week whose email got hacked and sent out weird stuff to everyone. :) It is my policy that I never click on links in email, nor do I open files.
