My Living Space

myspace1

I suppose I am a little odd. Not everyone has a full size plastic skeleton hanging out in their lounge room. I know, that is totally unbelievable, right? Why doesn’t everyone have a Carter? :) But, we had some people drop by the other day and we are so used to Carter neither of us thought to warn our visitors they were about to encounter him. They were a little freaked out when they spotted him.

My recliner is the chair with the blue rug. Let us take a closer look.

Tissues, laptop, tv remotes, water glass, all within reach.

This space used to be cluttered, but I have streamlined, and also did a little re-organising, so all the things that would clutter up this space are now re-organised.

Hand cream, nail clippers and Sally Hansen Hard As Nails which I swear by, nail polish remover, cuticle tools, dental floss, general body care items that you might need in the course of a day are now living together in this cute basket I got from Hot Dollar.

This is what I see from my recliner. There are my trusty cordless headphones. There are my cotton buds. There on the floor is the pair of socks the little kitty picks up with her mouth and runs around with, then throws them on the floor and attacks them. They must have done something really bad to deserve this treatment! ;)

Here’s a look at my remotes, and my clipboard. That might contain a project I am working on – at the moment I have printouts of my blogroll, because I am trying to drop by and say hi to everyone on it. Other times, it might have todays To Do list on there.

It is blank right now, because I Got All My Shiznit Done! YAY!

myspace5

Oh, why do I have a copy of the alphabet printed out there? I seriously am terrible at alphabetizing things. If I do not have that piece of paper, I do the mental abcdefg thing in my head, and that takes up more time than I would like, so I just printed it out and I keep it there, it works for me.

Next week on Friday I will be sharing my daily routine with you. I am really Getting Shiznit Done here, people, and it is all thanks to my set routine on weekdays. 4 hours each day of solid writing or chore time.

The post you are reading today, I wrote this on the 16th of September. On this blog I already have some blog posts – like the Wordless Wednesdays – scheduled out to December already. No kidding.

On the Rewatch Breaking Bad blog, I am writing the post for Season 2 episode 2 today. I’ve upped the posting schedule to twice a week and even so, that blog is already scheduled out to the end of September and this week, I am planning to write one post a day over there. If I can do that for 2 weeks, I’ll be scheduled out to the end of October very quickly.

Happy moments all around!

Carter Gets Dressed

ct2

The last time I went to Hawaii – back in 2011 – our house got broken into. One of the reasons was because they could look in the back door and see my laptop..

After that we bought a screening device so people could not see where I usually sit – well, most of where I usually sit. If you are standing at the back door you can see my legs and feet.

So we thought why not let them see legs and feet, even though we are not here? We dressed Carter up in the other half’s ugly bogan jeans and an awesome Carter themed tee.

We sat him in my chair. There was only one minor problem – my parents were going to be dropping in to feed the cats. So I had to put notes up on the door to remind them of Carter, because he can seriously freak you out – even when you do know he is there but accidentally forget.

I have been known to do the little jump and scream.

Carter had a great time, hanging out, watching teevee – of course we left the teevee on for the cats, plus to have sound in case anyone was checking out if people were in the house.

Unbelievable

Do you know anyone who is just lucky?

My Dad is seriously lucky. There have been days where he has won multiple meat trays, the $200 bonus voucher, his card has been drawn in the members draw for $1500, and he wins several hundred on the pokies as well.

But recently he broke all his previous records of luckiness and won over 7 and a half thousand in one spin on the pokies. He was playing his favourite machine which was hooked up to a state Major and Minor jackpot, and he won the major jackpot.

Unbelievable!

Even more unbelievable, I did not get passed this lucky gene. :(

Meet Carter

So I bought me a little friend at Costco.

This is Carter, my skeleton friend.

Back when I was getting along with everyone at work, and when I was doing the overnight shift, Carter spent a few over-nights sitting out in my car. It was hilarious because people would suddenly notice him as they were walking past my car, and let out bloodcurdling screams, or perhaps do a little freak out jump.

Counting Down!

My good friend Sephy who I have never met in person arrives in Australia this weekend. We have multiple plans of awesomeness, and at the end of that we fly off to Hawaii with my parents – Sephy on his way home to the US, and me for a happy holiday and shopping trip..

I’ll try to put some pics up of our antics touring various places in Australia and certainly you will hear all about the shopping in Hawaii. :)

Happy moments for all! ;)

The garden is looking very awesome and I’ll update with some pics later this week when I have a moment..

Chicken Eve..

Tonight is Chicken Eve. Tomorrow is the day our chickens will come home for the first time, and they will be living in the coop pictured below for the first week until the run is completed.

This is the result of over a months work out in the mancave.

On the inside –
chook51
Yellow paint, and lino which will be covered with sand – providing I can manage to dry it out, our bags were wet!
chook61
And the section above is the laying area which will contain straw for nesting.

The roof is Solar Grey color, it keeps out a fair amount of the UV rays. We’ll have to see how it goes for Summer but our yard is pretty shady, I’m hoping we won’t need to insulate it.

So yeah, if Frogdancer is reading this, see what your chicken blogging did? ;) You made me believe that I too could keep chickens.

I fell in love with a chicken today, btw. I am hopeful I will be bringing it home tomorrow and if so, you better believe you’ll get pics ;)

Chickens, The Other Half

Introducing..

The Man Cave!!
mancave1

We were really lucky to find this place with a huge 2 car garage out the back of the house in which we do not have to park cars, so it could be turned into an awesome man cave.

mancave2

We’ve been busy out there since last Thursday, starting to build our latest creation.

mancave3

Well, the other half is building, I am painting what he is building.. :)

mancave4

So, what do you think we might be building in there?

Chickens, The Other Half

Too Many

Yes, it has been a while – not because I have nothing to say, but because I have far too much to say and not enough time and energy to say it.. :)

Recently we did a redesign of The Mudflats. I was very nervous about this however it turned out awesomely.

There has been much kayaking, many summer type outings, a lot of cooking and chores done. We went on holidays back to Twin Waters at Maroochydore. We went to Adelaide for a flying visit to go to the birthday of a very good friend.

My nephews have been to visit a couple of times, and we went to visit them. We took them to Laser Skirmish which was awesome fun. I used to go to the laser skirmish in Adelaide when I was probly mid teens and they had an overnight lock in session, you would stay there overnight and play laser skirmish the whole time.

Serverguy dropped in from Japan, and got hisself married to a gorgeous and awesome lady. They visited us here and we spent several days “toodling” as my mother likes to call it, eg visiting local beaches, markets, little towns with shops, winerys. The other half is sadly not cut out for toodling, it exhausted him!

While in Sydney we took them to see the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and managed to get charged $32 for parking, for a total of maybe 20 minutes. The place we parked was I believe the Opera House parking lot. They had a sign saying flat rate parking for $15 when we entered, and yet when we left the machine charged us $32. It seems the flat rate was for the night before. Well how about getting rid of the signs then, geniuses?

Although I will say I don’t mind paying it because the 20 minutes we spent there was somewhat magical. There was a dj playing in the bar right next to where we ended up and the music was awesome. I kinda wish we’d stayed for longer.

Now the plan is for me to get a car. In some ways I like this plan, it will be handy for doing my local errands and I think I will try to get out for a beach walk each day. The best beach to walk on is quite a few kms away from here even though we back onto the water, that water doesn’t feature any beaches.

In some ways I do not like this plan – we have one garage and I’m going to have to learn to reverse into it. For this reason I am trying to get the smallest car imaginable. The other question is, do I want a manual or an automatic? I can’t quite decide.

The other half found a game on Wii that I have become quite addicted to. It is called Rune Factory Frontier.

We have had some visits from lizards recently and the cats have been encountering them in the garage as a surprise. I am not certain whether they like this surprise or are scared by it. They fluff up for hours afterwards and jump at anything touching them.

There is a new icecream shop not far from here which has gelati and it is awesome. For anyone reading this who is actually in Sydney, you want to go to this website – Pure Gelato. They deliver! And they have a massive range of flavours. And they have a learn to make gelato night. I want to go to that! ;)

Tonight we are off to Sydney to pick up some family who will be visiting for a few days. We’ve done the Sydney/Home run quite a bit lately.

Oh, and here is something *incredible*. Last weekend the nephews were visiting, and the oldest nephew had just got a new pair of skate shoes. Very pretty they were also. I liked them a lot, and I thought just for fun I would try them on. THEY FREAKING FIT ME. He is maybe 14? And I have size 10/11 womens feet, which is like a 8/9 mens. Jeebus!

It seems to me that with all the earthquakes, volcanoes, and the fact that my nephew now has feet the same size as me, that the end of the world is nigh. Prepare yourselves for eternity, or whatever they reckon happens next! ;)
