Housekeeping for today 23 June

I’m about to go on a cleaning spree here in the home office, as well as on the blog. One thing I am wanting to do this weekend is go back and label old posts. Sometimes when I have done that in the past they have turned up on the RSS feed as a new post. I’m hoping they won’t but if they do, I’m sorry. It shouldn’t last too long.

Those of you who know me well know that I am one of the world’s most disorganized people. Even my computer desktop ends up with a zillion files on it that I have to go through and sort out every so often. But I think I’ve finally cracked the blogging organization jackpot.

I have a massive weekly wrap up coming to you as a surprise this Sunday so look out for that.

Weekly Wrap Up 18/06/07

Welcome back to me! ;) Very relieved to be back at home, I won’t lie to ya’all. It was nice to go away but it is even nicer to return to one’s waterbed and kitties. ;)

A HUGE thank you to Sephy for helping me out here on the blog and posting the pics I emailed to him from my mobile phone which have been coming to you as a surprise over the weekend.

I have not yet logged into my google reader but I am looking forward to going in and catching up with what everyone has been up to.

So, the week in review. I talked about how things are different in the country, I had some adventures in hair dying and a lovely beach walk with photos for ya’all. One really important post I’d like to draw your attention to, written by Sephy. It’s over on his blog and it is regarding the Assassination scam. These scammers do a lot of really terrible things but this is by far the worst type of scam out there and the most scary for anyone who receives it. Thanks to Sephy posting it, a lot of people have found his blog and know it’s just the scammers trying to get money out of people they know nothing about and there’s no assassination teams watching them. It’s a huge relief for those people who received the email.

If any bloggers reading this could do us a favour and help us educate more people on these scams by linking to that post and perhaps also to my internet safety post part six which talks about those scams, that would be fantastic. In case you missed it, here’s links to Internet safety part onetwothreefourfivesix. I’m going to put this series at the top of the right sidebar for a little bit, to make it easier for people to find.

Funny search terms this week –
headache, foggy memo
email shenanigans
plane panti hose
hairy boys
animals diecan’t turn over
home hair dying green
jammed acrylic nail and lifted my real nail
why does sunscreen make acrylic nails sticky? (does it? I didn’t know this)
scary pictures of sharks and people (I know where to find this but it scared me so much I’m not telling)
rob lowe naked (yeah, I wish I knew where to find that too!)

And a lot of Morten Harket queries.. ;) Morten Harket was the number one search term this week.
is morten harket gay? (You’d have to ask him, I’m voting no but he does wear a lot of leather so I can understand the general confusion)
is morten harket married? (He was, yes)
morten harket and his wife
morten harket naked pics (sorry, I don’t have any, if you find them let ME know!)
how tall is morten harket

We’re still averaging 700 unique visitors a week here – that doesn’t count return visits during the week. I am still in the middle of the blogging chicks commenting challenge but didn’t get too much done last week thanks to the trip, so hopefully this week I’ll get busy. :)

So things are back to normal with me returning home, and you can look forward to some quality blogging this week as well as lovely photos of Ikea purchases and the Sydney Harbor Bridge at night. I’m hoping to write another blog about differences between the country and city this week, as well as something about vertigo and pilots. No, that won’t be as boring as it sounds. ;)

Internet Safety, Morten Harket, weekly wrap up

Weekly Round Up.

Sephy guest posted on Freshblogger – How NOT to make money on the internet! I also guest posted there last week – Challenging Yourself to Comment.

Six Weird Things About Me has now been completed by Sephy and of course Snoskred! Anyone else want to give it a try?

In trashy tv to keep an eye out for news, Australian tennis star The Scud, or Poo, as many like to call him, Mark Philippoussis is in a reality tv show with a difference. This one looks like fun, I saw a promo clip for it.

At home on the blog, I got a new blog template. I told you about some of the best free stuff on the internet. I set myself a commenting challenge and decided to take it slowly rather than comment on 100 blogs a day – the pace is leisurely at best!.

In blog stats this week, just under 700 people dropped by for a visit. Some of the search terms that brought them here which tickled my funnybone –

fisher and paykel annoying door alarm
bitches at the workplace
titless wonder
chinese man always spends money
red bellie black snake
naked jal stewardess

So that’s the weekly wrap up, which I will be trying to do once a week, in future. :)

Today’s task

I’m still working on adding all the blogs I read to my sidebar. It’s taking longer than I thought because I want to comment on each blog at the same time. Today I’m doing the blogs in the category of Nablopomo in my google reader. These are ones I found during Nablopomo and ended up adding to my reader because I loved them so much. They’re a real mixture of blogs and people.

When I do find out how to sign up for Nablopomo this year I’ll blog about it. It was a worthwhile thing last time but I found out too late to take part so I ended up making my own challenge, which was to comment on every blog participating, sometimes commenting on 100 blogs a day. It was overwhelming but I did keep it up for the whole month. ;) Still did not make it through all the blogs though. There were so many!

Anyway if you get here and I’ve commented on your blog but you can’t find yourself in the list of blogs on the sidebar, it’s because I’m putting them into the list and then updating when I have the whole lot done. If I save the changes each time I make one it will take far too long. :) have patience, it will happen.

10,000 visitors

Sometime over the next day or two this blog will hit 10,000 on the counter. And what a fun journey it has been so far. ;) If you’re the 10,000th visitor make sure to leave a comment!

It is really cold here at the moment, something like 6 degrees. My fingers are ice cold. I think it must be snowing in the snowy mountains and a quick look at the webcams show that they did get snow yesterday, and no wonder because it was something like -4 degrees.

I had this dream last year that I went to the snow with the other half and for some reason Guy Sebastian was there skiing. Odd. But me just typing what I typed above reminded me of that dream so strongly that I went on a little Guy Sebastian you tube trip down memory lane. ;) I tried to find something nice to put here so it wasn’t a wasted journey but nothing felt right, so no music for you. Sorry about that. :)

This job is a real headache..

I have been meaning to do it for a long time, so now is as good a time as any. I want to go through my entire 130+ google subscriptions and let them know I’m reading them via google reader and that I enjoy what they write, and that I’m linking to them in the sidebar of my blog.

So those of you who had links in the sidebar, do not panic, they will return once I get my shizznit together. If you don’t have comments enabled I can’t say anything to you, so sorry about that. ;)

Blog Housekeeping

Over the next few days I’m going to redo the sidebar, so if you want me to link to you there, now is your chance. Pop over here and say “link to me” in the comments, give me the link, and it shall be done. You can link back to me if you want but that’s up to you.

I’m also going to try and put all the blogs I read into the sidebar. Given that there’s so many of them, this is a huge challenge. Stuff will be moved around, so be patient with me. ;)

Those of you who are Aussie and are not a part of the Australian Blogs community on Bumpzee, created by Meg from Dipping into the Blogpond, you might want to sign up. This post here by Meg tells you everything you need to know. I’ve found some great new blogs from this, and there’s an RSS feed where all the blogs who are a part of the community have their posts turn up in. I joined a while back and it’s a blast.

De-Lurk

Sephy mentioned this today. Apparently it’s de-lurking week, when you take the time and stop by the folks you read in your Google Reader or Bloglines, and say hi. So say hi today :) I’ll have about 117 Hi’s to say, I’ll try to do it by the end of the week. hehe

I managed to stop (for now) at 6 episodes. It’s like a drug, people. I’m hooked.

I spoke with Anna Falactic about The West Wing a little while ago. I do think it is easier for a non-American to watch, because there’s a big distance between me and your politics. I really don’t know what the difference between a Democrat and a Republican is over there. But I don’t think The West Wing is so much about American Politics as it is about the people involved in the process. And I really like the characters.
