Weekly Wrap Up 22/07/07

A big hello to the members of the No Nofollow | I Follow | DoFollow Community at Bumpzee. I’ve been reading your community RSS feed for a few weeks and dropping in to your blogs saying hi. I’ve had to take the Bumpzee widget off the sidebar for the time being as it seems to be slowing the page load down, and the Bumpzee site seems to be having some issues too. :( I hope it’s not just me, is anyone else finding the same thing happening?

And now on to the week that was here at Chalet Snoskred.

Funny Search Terms This Week –

exploding light globes bunnings Oh dear. I’m not sure that I’d be looking to the internet for answers if my light globes exploded!

slutty hairdressers Again with the slutty hairdressers, what is this world coming to? Can’t you just search for normal pr0n like normal people?

why an apple a day can keep the bad mood away?(riddle) I thought it was the doctor it kept away.. so I stopped eating them, cos my doctor is HOT, ya’all. Tall, blonde, with some kind of European accent.. now that I mention it this flu I have, maybe I need some antibiotics. ;)

747 Ok. When you search for stuff, generally it helps to give more information. 747? And how did it bring you here because I don’t seem to appear in the search results? Odd.

country song my funny face makes you laugh, screw t No, that’s exactly how it appeared, I didn’t cut off the word. Handy hint – when searching it is useful to use whole words. ;)

shower Again with the one word searches. This does not get you good results!

positives of working in call centre Amazingly I am eighth for this search term on google!

freaky odd fetishes If you are ever bored, amuse yourself by using this search term on google. You won’t find me in the results but you will find some very freaky odd fetishes. :)

build a new life in the country george I know what you’re looking for, I love that show. ;)

Here On The Blog –

Traffic went through the roof this week, it actually doubled. Over 1,600 people dropped by. This week I – spoke about making 5 million dollars online – did a movie review of Chocolat which was popular with visitors – spoke about celebrities behaving badly – bought my own domain Snoskred – Life in the Country so please update your links if you link here – posted a photo of the Ikea Mirror which we finally hung up on a wall.

Also this week I spoke about a good friend many of you know, Sephy, in my Letting Go post. It was a very difficult post for me to write because Sephy is one of the few people in this world I deeply trust – so deeply he actually has a lot of my passwords. However I felt it was the only way the message he desperately needed to hear would finally be heard. And thankfully, it was heard. A couple of days later Sephy dropped by to post About Letting It Go and he has begun to walk the difficult road to recovery. But he still needs us to keep him honest, so please drop by his blog Sephy’s Platzish, add him to your feed reads, help him on this journey.

Coming Up –

This week’s Hump Day Hmmm is about Political Correctness. If you have something to say on the topic please join in! Other than that, I’m not sure what I’m going to blog about this week, so it will come to us all as a surprise.. ;)

Alexa "Sparky" now works with Firefox 2.0.0.5

Yesterday I got word that Alexa had finally released an official toolbar “Sparky” for Firefox users. I installed it right away but then two hours later Firefox told me it had an update – and the only extension that would not work with the update would be Sparky!

Just now Firefox popped up a box and told me that there was a new version of Sparky available that works with this version of Firefox, so I now have it back. Yay!

So if you want it, go and get Sparky. Finally Firefox users can have their voices (and their traffic) heard! Given that over 50% of the readers here use Firefox I’m hoping many of you will install it so a truer reflection of your visits here can be seen by the world.

Not every post here..

has to be some kind of profound statement. ;) Today I would like to mention that Meg wrote a great Beginners Guide to StumbleUpon which is worth a read, and ya’all should seriously think about getting on the StumbleUpon train. It’s a lot of fun.

And, I have a couple of photos for you.

mirror

This is the mirror I got from Ikea, which we finally got the courage to hang.. ;)

I’m taking some time to work on art today, and I might have some pictures of that for you tomorrow. In the meantime, be good! ;)

Weekly Wrap Up 15/07/07

Have you participated in the Hump Day Hmmm yet? If not, why not? The next topic is – “How we let it go.” – Do you ever have something build up inside you like an volcano ready to burst? Did you carry something you were ready to let go of? Have you watched a process in our culture that involves letting go?

I wanted to mention that at the top in the hopes that more of ya’all will rise up off your blogging rear ends and have a crack at it this week. ;)

So, having returned from running up the first 500+ kms on the new car by going to look at a large.. err.. ENORMOUS concrete sheep, I have returned and managed to stop giggling long enough to type up this week’s wrap up. I wish I’d taken some photos of it but there really was no good angle – the only uninterrupted view I could get would have shown you the rear end of a large concrete sheep. So instead I provide you this link to a tour of some of Australia’s big things, many of which I was unaware of myself. :)

Funny Search Terms This Week –

car in the country scary monster clip (how they ended up here I have no clue..)
bitches in the workplace in australia (yep, we got plenty here!)
country bitches (well, there’s less of them than in the city, but they do still exist)
chances of surviving a plane decompression (chances = excellent if your seat belt is done up and you don’t get sucked out)
who knows the live earth commercial song. the part where they show the sponsers (I never blogged about Live Earth, and I didn’t watch it either.. so I have no idea!)
thing always explodes (this is the equivalent of searching in the dark with no lights on, I suspect. Thing? What thing? Note to self – if you tell google what you want, google can find it. If not even you know what you want, what chance does google have?)

Here On The Blog –

We had a bumper week, with over 900 visitors dropping in. Yay! I introduced the thought for today idea, I added the BlogCatalog widget to the sidebar. I spoke about Australia being the land of hippies and flakes (as I write this, I am burning lemongrass, lime and mandarin flavoured oils) how I knew I was born to be a salesperson, for the Hump Day Hmmm I spoke about what I carry with me.

Coming Up –

I’ve got a fair bit of reading to catch up on tomorrow after taking most of the weekend off. ;) This week I hope to make a few cosmetic changes here to the blog but it depends on finding the right photos.

weekly wrap up

I left out a link!

Well yesterday I was in a bit of a rush, because my parents called me and said be ready in an hour, and I hadn’t even got out of bed. I didn’t want to leave without wrapping up the week, so I rushed in here, blogged in record time, and ran to get ready. It was only after I got back that I realised, I left out a link I was meaning to put in. So, I’ll post it next week.

Of course when I got to my parents, after rushing, they were still in their PJ’s watching tv. I sat there for an hour and a half waiting for them to get ready! GRRR!

Yesterday we went for a drive in Dad’s car, which I have to say was quite the experience. First, the ride is incredibly comfortable. It’s like driving around in a really comfortable lounge chair. You barely feel any bumps.

Dad chose to be the car sentry while we went shopping. I can see this is going to be an issue! He’s crazy about his car and not once did he leave it for more than a minute.

It turns heads, this car. Everywhere we went, people were looking at it. We pulled up next to this maybe 14 year old kid at the traffic lights and you could see his face light up and the excitement at having spotted this car – of which there were only 200 ever made. But on the other hand, the fear that someone might damage it is really annoying. I sense the Ute will be going a lot of places and the car will be brought out for only special occasions. It’s a shame.

I now have the fear I’m going to feel the same way about our new car. I have to work on this.. I don’t want to feel like we can’t take it anywhere or park it anywhere or leave it alone while we go and do things..

Weekly Wrap Up 08/07/07

It’s been another busy week here on the blog. I’ve been back to commenting – not the commenting challenge, just on blogs from my google reader and also other blogs I’ve stumbled upon. Traffic went back to normal as a result – just under 800 visitors.

Funny Search Terms This Week –

outrages pussys (WTF? when does anyone have the time for this activity? ;) )
aeroplane crash-what do you need to survive (FYI, they ended up at this post coincidentally about plane crashes and how to survive them. Hmm, those search engines are brilliant, no?)
cheesy song lyrics (yeah they came to the right place I guess!)
give the meaning of the word gastronomist (Homework! Snoskred is educational as well..)
what are the conflicting attitudes to life in a dead poets soci (And more homework!)
50’s female on beach shots (Ohhhkay)
boeing love may come and go but email is forever (boeing? this saying makes no sense!)
jal stewardess naked (back to this old chestnut, can I say THERE WILL BE NO NAKED AIRLINE ATTENDANTS ON THIS BLOG ANYTIME SOON!)
titless wonder (AGAIN?)

Here on the blog –

We bought a new car – looked at ways negativity can mess with your head – spoke about Karma for the Hump Day Hmm – made a commitment not to spam via MyBlogLog – suffered a heart break and discrimination thereby learning to stumble

Coming Up –

For this week’s Hump Day Hmmm, Next week’s topic is courtesy of ME! :) how cool is that?

“The things you carry with you”

It might be advice, it might be quotes, past experiences or thoughts, it might be what you literally carry with you. Even some seemingly silly advice like that can make for lifelong habits, for better or worse…

So ya’all should get in on that one.. share the stuff that has changed you along the way. What made me think of it was actually Oprah. Years and years ago she did a show on travelling and security and little tips. One of the things mentioned was going to the toilet in an airport, and it’s actually changed the way I view using public toilets anywhere. As in –

I always walk to the very last cubicle (people are lazy in general, they will usually use the first ones, so the last usually is cleaner and has more toilet paper)

So even some seemingly silly advice like that can make for lifelong habits. She was right, especially in Australia where not every woman watches Oprah. I bet in the US it meant the last toilet was the most used! ;) So you might want to grab that little nugget and carry it with you. I’ll have more nuggets for you on Wednesday. ;) I still have a post or two that didn’t get a chance to get posted, and I hope next week is more calm so I can do that. However, with a new car arriving, what are the chances of that? ;)

Now I’m off to a big shopping centre, where I hope to find leggins. We were going to take Dad’s new car, but it’s raining now. Not sure if it’ll get out of the garage.. ;) Be good ya’all!

Weekly Wrap Up 01/07/07

This week I’ve taken a break from commenting on blogs, and have been busy watching The West Wing and doing a bit of house cleaning instead. Yes, how boring. Traffic is down a little at the blog this week, we dropped back to below 600 unique visits. Blog traffic is a funny thing. You can’t take it personally, so I never do. I know part of the reason it was down is due to school holidays coming up here in Australia and also due to my lack of commenting. People won’t visit you unless you visit them and say hi. ;)

A lot of people have arrived directly at the following pages, so if they’re all reading it I figure maybe the rest of ya’all want to as well. Politics and Truth and Dead Poets Society Movie Review.

My entire family has become addicted to Chuzzle. It seriously is the world’s cutest game.

Funny Search Terms This Week –

google reader picture i am pregnant, who did it (I’m not sure google knows who got you pregnant. Google knows a lot of things though, so..)
country bitches vs. city bitches (bitches is the same everywhere!)
country road towels fluff (I don’t have any country road towels, so I can’t comment on their fluffiness or not, sorry!)
server sex view 240607 (server sex? Is this a new fetish?)
jb hifi perth smuggling (smuggling? How Famous Five!)
an event that thought me a positive lesson (homework again? Are they teaching kids to spell in school these days)
christian slater frontal pose (just frontal? No naked? Google image search, people aren’t taking pictures of him from behind as far as I know)
slutty hairdressers (more fetishes!)
vapor princess highway (all righty then)

Here On The Blog –

I blogged about about – why you should get a RoombaAustralia and Swearing and my new blog policy on swear words – and what attracts me to a man which included some photos of half naked men. That seemed to be quite popular, I might make it a weekly thing. Not just as an excuse to google image search for beefcake. ;)

This week I got a bit emotionally naked – talking about the fact that I don’t sleep like normal people – and my Germophobia.

Coming Up –

You might want to participate in this week’s Hump Day Hmmm. This coming Wednesday the topic is –

Discuss the concept of karma, and what you think of its role in justice, injustice, and forgiveness. Be as general and conceptual or as personal as you like…whatever keeps you feeling comfortable and motivated.

I’m looking forward to that topic. I also have been brewing this post and debating whether or not I should post it for the last couple of weeks, and one day this week I might actually do it. It’s a scary one for me. ;)

A Quick Note About The Sidebar

I’ve put in some scroll bars on my links lists. You might want to do this as well. The code is fairly simple – <div style="overflow: auto; height: 200px">PUT LIST OF LINKS HERE</div> – you can change the height of the box to suit yourself as well, just change 200px to whatever amount of pixels high you would like the box to be. Thanks go to Sephy who figured out how to do this.

Weekly Wrap Up 24/06/07

This week has been a very busy and productive one here at Life in the Country. I’ve been commenting like it’s 1999 or something, making somewhere between 30-50 comments a day most days and usually a fair proportion of those have been on Blogging Chick blogs. I’ve found some fantastic new blogs. I’ve also put aside some of my favorite blog posts for you to check out, which will be a new feature on the weekly wrap up. I’m moving it to Sunday rather than Monday. I think that’s the more logical day for a weekly wrap-up.

This week “chuzzle” and “morten harket girlfriend” have tied with “vodafone stake incorporation” to be the top three search terms.

Funny searches include –

websites for shenanigans (what is it with shenanigans? Who USES that word for searching?)
pictures of horrible haircuts for men (now there’s a blog post we all should write! ;) )
dead poets society analized (for the record, it’s analyzed. And I’m not here to do your homework!)
soup (that’s it? Just soup? No flavour in particular?)
country where did a go (I don’t know. I haven’t seen a lately. Can anyone help? lolz)
scary websites that can tell who my lover is (err, ok)
cremation clothes melt fire pantyhose (I don’t even want to know what prompted this search!)

Here on the blog

I wrote about – Blogrolling and Commercial Promotion – and I must say I made some very good points even if I do say so myself. :) How’s that for advertising?

If you ever travel on a plane you should read this postPlane Safety – a must read for all.

I also wrote about – The power of positive thought – how positive thinking can help A night at the Sydney Harbour Marriott – including breakfast which was stunning – Accident of birth – the SCARY country – how I lost my fear of snakes.

Monday is the busiest day here at Life in the Country. Weekends are the slowest days, traffic can drop by 50%. Most week days are getting around 130 unique visits now. This week over 800 people dropped by, probably a lot of that was due to comments I left around the place.

And that’s the weekly wrap up. Long, but excellent. In my opinion. I’m not biased, no, not at all.. :)

What’s on the agenda for next week?

Commenting challenge – The West Wing season 5 – reading all your blogs – winter house cleaning – trying to keep warm – trying not to have an agenda because too many people I don’t like use that word – finishing Gene Kranz’s book Failure Is Not An Option which I may review however I do not think any words of mine will do it justice – positive thinking – candle photography – play some pool – write a post about my Roomba!
