This hedge at my parents place is at least 6 feet tall and it has grown to that height very quickly. If you want a hedge super fast, I recommend Pittosporum.
It could be considered a little boring but unlike some of the other hedging plants used (eg. Jasmine, Lilly Pilly) most people are unlikely to be allergic to it. :)
Hm, intersting. I don’t think I’ve heard of that one! My mom is trying to grow a boxwood hedge, which doesn’t seem to be particularly fast-growing.
I don’t know if I saw any Pittosporum in Hawaii at all. I think people might use a lot of hibiscus for hedging over there. :) Which is great, I love hibiscus and have a lot of trouble growing them myself, not sure why.. :)
Not my favourite plant, but it does the job and quickly too. That’s a fine looking hedge.
It certainly is very good looking, and it blocks quite a bit of noise from the neighbours too. :)
I love pittosporum and fast-growing hedges in general. For we obsessive-compulsive types, they’re so much fun to keep in shape. I had no idea about the low-allergen issue. Even better.
I do sometimes feel like going Edward Scissorhands on their hedge and making creatures out of it, but they would dead me dead. :) I think this kind of hedge would lend itself well to a dragon or Loch Ness monster! ;)
Pittosporum is classified as a weed in Victoria, probably because it grows so easily!!
It certainly does grow easily.. :) It was all the rage on the home improvement shows when I was last watching them, too. :)
That is a beautiful hedge. Love the wooden hedging too. Nicely done.
*wooden edging*** :)
I suggested a veg garden but that was denied. My parents are not really growing vegetable people. :)
